Health & Safety

At DDL we prioritise the well-being of our workforce and the communities we serve.

Our Approach to Health and Safety:

At DDL Group, safety isn’t just a policy, it’s the foundation of everything we do.

We are committed to protecting our people by providing the support, training and resources they need to work safely and confidently every day.
We believe the best way to keep everyone safe is by preventing incidents before they happen. That’s why we continually review our procedures, learn from near misses, monitor safety performance and encourage everyone to speak up if they spot something that could be improved.

Safety is a shared responsibility, and every member of the DDL team has an important part to play. By looking out for one another, making the right decisions and never compromising on safe working practices, we create a workplace where everyone can go home safely at the end of every day.

Key Safety Considerations in Civil Engineering

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): We emphasise the importance of wearing appropriate PPE, including helmets, safety vests, gloves, and safety shoes, to protect against common construction hazards.
  • Fall Protection: Construction sites often involve working at heights. We implement fall protection measures such as guardrails, safety nets, and personal fall arrest systems to prevent falls.
  • Hazardous Materials Management: Proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials are critical in construction. We strictly adhere to guidelines and regulations to ensure safety.
  • Machinery and Equipment Safety: Regular maintenance and training on the safe operation of construction machinery and equipment are essential to prevent accidents.
  • Emergency Response: We have comprehensive emergency response plans in place, including first-aid stations, evacuation procedures, and fire safety measures.

The DDL Group is fully committed to complying with all local, national, and international health and safety regulations. We continuously monitor changes in legislation to ensure our practices remain in line with industry standards.

Prioritising health and safety in civil engineering is not just a requirement, it’s a responsibility. At DDL we are dedicated to fostering a culture of safety that protects our workers, clients, and the communities we serve. By working together and embracing best practices, we can create a safer, more productive and sustainable future for all.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our health and safety practices, please feel free to contact us. We have an in house Health and Safety Department that would be happy to assist.

Wellbeing

A healthy workforce is a happy workforce.

DDL are proud supporters of The Lighthouse Club. The Construction Industry Charity. They provide emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

We encourage all of our employees to also use this a framework as well as our employee program. This offers free counselling sessions, medical advice and much more.
